At Perlego, there's just over 100 of us working hard to make education accessible to all.

In this digital age, we believe that anyone should be able to learn anything at any time. Knowledge should be more accessible, not locked behind sky-high price tags.

Over the past 5 years our goal has been to support students across the UK & Europe to access quality books. The next stage of Perlego is two fold:

1. expand our support to students globally, and
2. build a product that goes beyond the book, a platform that helps students study smarter and more effectively.

🔎 What we’re looking for 🔎

A Software Engineering Manager with extensive experience in Javascript, AWS & TDD. You'll be joining our engineering team, working with two product squads towards a data-driven mission to help our users have the best learning experience possible.

🔥What you’ll do🔥

• You will lead a versatile product engineering squad guiding them and their stakeholders in the agile delivery of high quality software products.
• You will help shape software designs and architecture helping to build a better learning experience for our users in collaboration with our technical leaders.
• You will be partially hands-on in helping the team to implement solutions.
• You will provide mentoring, guidance and coaching for a group of software engineers helping them grow their skills and collectively achieve their goals.
• You will collaborate with other engineering managers in process improvement and measurement activities across the engineering and product organisation.
• You will contribute to growing our engineering organisation, its capabilities and evangelism.

Requirements

It’s the perfect role for you if you have:

• Experience leading high-performing teams in an Agile environment with Test Driven Development, CI/CD
• Experience coaching and mentoring software engineers
• Experience in implementing web applications development using Javascript (React, Node.js) and AWS.
• A good understanding of architectural practices including: Microservices, OOP, Caching, Databases, Containers & Serverless.
• Commercial experience as a Senior Software Engineer.
• A desire to balance the people and process elements of the role whilst still using your technical skills.

⭐️ It’s a plus if you have:

• A degree - preferably in a computing related subject
• Experience in a startup environment
• Experience with React Native and mobile development
• A strong understanding of SEO and application performance
• A general interest in books, reading and always learning new things!

The range available for this role is from £80,000 - £90,000
