GitHub is changing the way the world builds software, and we want you to help build GitHub.

The Growth team is responsible for helping more people succeed with GitHub and become customers. We’re looking for a Senior Growth Engineer who will own engineering projects within that team to increase customer acquisition, activation, retention, and revenue. You’ll be part of the growth engineering team collaborating with people from product, marketing, customer success, and design. The Growth discipline blends product, marketing, data science, and experimentation. Everything you work on will have a direct and measurable impact on GitHub’s business metrics and trajectory.

If you are motivated by solving customer pain points, moving metrics, and seeing the impact of your code on the business in weeks, and if you love questioning assumptions and designing experiments to validate them, then this could be a perfect opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data to identify growth opportunities and propose new experiments. We believe great ideas come from everywhere in the team.
  • Refine roughly defined experiments, taking them from conception to implementation and analysis.
  • Collaborate with teams across the GitHub product to create experimental experiences.
  • Instrument the growth funnel to enable proper tracking and analysis of experiments
  • Communicate persuasively with peers and stakeholders to enable cooperation and creative thinking
  • Do all this with a growth mindset; staying curious, humble, and open-minded to keep learning every day and inspire others to do the same

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience with software development
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly build positive relationships with other engineering teams. This role will often be working in other teams' codebases.
  • Experience with web or mobile analytics technologies and/or data analysis methods (ex. SQL)
  • Have built dynamic, interactive web experiences using HTML/CSS and JavaScript
  • Familiarity with UI/UX best practices
  • Experience with Ruby, Git, OOP, relational databases, and API design
  • Knowledge of testing principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of billing processes and technologies is a huge plus
  • Experience with Go, React, or Node

Location:

In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States or onsite in one of GitHub’s U.S. offices (San Francisco, Bellevue, Raleigh).
